LYNX in Orlando, FL is now testing MCI on loan from Virginia OmniRide PRTC. (Sorry pic quality sucks, it was quick catch) I was informed LYNX is looking to purchase 30 of these for route expansion and for use in conjunction with SunRail.

I actually saw that bus yesterday when I was in North Carolina coming back from Myrtle Beach in a big storm. I was wondering why the hell it was so far away outside of the DC Metro.

They are testing it on the I-4 Corridor from Sanford to just before Disney and also on the I-528 Beachline. LYNX is also trying rush a temporary service to work the new SunRail coming in 2014, so not sure how and MCI would help with that.

Maybe they are going to buy new MCIs?

I'm shocked Lynx may purchase these. Buying MCIs or any over the road coach has never been mentioned on the board reports.

Maybe it has to do with the ridership that may come from Sunrail, hence why MCIs would be suitable. The big question in this case is if Lynx is ready to have these coaches in their fleet.

Though it was mentioned somewhere on their site over the road coaches would be bought in the near future.

I was shocked also when I spotted it, I had to make a U-Turn and go back, there is a LYNX supervisor with the bus in addition to a rep from Orlando MCI service center in case of issues he said. Bus will be testing tomorrow he said close to attractions area and also Sanford.

So they maybe purchasing 30 of these? If so it would make sense as Lynx has several proposed express routes that are in the works as well as Sunrail coming in.

How are thy "testing" it? Driver familiarization? It's not like an MCI bus has never been used on I-4 before. Are they afraid of height clearances (which there are none) or something like rolling it over when hitting an armadillo?

They are testing it on some of the other roads, specifically around Millenia Mall Area, Altamonte Springs, Orlando Airport and Universal, also extensive on Rt. 50 and 408 / 429 I don't believe its they are afraid its just a first for LYNX and they are looking at turns, and traffic patterns with the coach also probably just overall how it drives.

I can't neven begin to make a comment (good or bad) on this. They'll figure it out real fast when this bus gets rear ended on Kirkman or 436 when it stops in the right lane to pickup or discharge. Lynx will have to come up with a lighting package.

Kind of like what they did with the 2012 Gilligs, with the extra taillights added.
