I took photos several Gilligs, especially for "new " operators in NYC.

GoNYTours has gotten horrible ratings on the TripAdvisor website. I feel sorry for those people in your third photo who paid $60 to get driven around in a Gillig shuttle bus!

That looks like a newer (2008 or later) Gillig, based on the squared door windows. I don't think it's a second-hand bus, though.

I really doubt if these operators would buy a brand new bus.

The frameless windows look different compared to the Avis Gillig below. Looks like a homemade job on an older bus, IMO.

But the rental car outfits usually buy buses with one center door, particularly on a shorter bus. In this service there is no need for two doors. They also don't buy destination signs (TRY TRANSIT).

The Avis bus:
It looks like one of CDTA's "sardine cans" (3113-3115). I hope it is second hand and it came from CDTA, one less of them up here would be wonderful.

The sardine cans are terrible once more than 10 passengers are aboard.

I've seen newer Gilligs in the Hertz and Avis fleets in other cities with the LED side signs, sometimes with readings such as 'DROP OFF ONLY'.

Hertz was the launch customer for the Gillig low-floor bus and those initial 'H2000LF' buses had the center door only. The more recent Hertz Gilligs and most of the Avis 40-foot low floors have the transit-style front door also. I think National/Alamo may also have the Gillig low-floor with the center door only (Alamo earlier also had Gillig Phantoms without the front door).

Not in NYC, but there are several rental car shuttle carries LED sign like "CARS AVAILABLE". This one also has "CARS AVAILABLE", but suddenly that was changed to "TRY TRANSIT".

That Gillig Phantom looks like it's an Ex-Metro Transit unit from Minneapolis.

During the MBS convention I was able to look at some of those gilligs, and they appeared to be ex Denver RTD units (at least the ones I looked at).

Yeah, certainly bought new.

It's a 2013, per Carfax license plate lookup.
