They can if someone comes up with money. It sounds like a money dispute. A rough number of buses needed would be 160-175 units. You would have to move 8,000 passengers during the peak of the peak hour. |

[Are they saying they don't want to spend the money?] No, they aren't say that... (1) There aren't enough spare buses or enough spare drivers (all of whom must be on overtime) to cover everything that's needed. (2) One weekend isn't enough time to assemble a special shuttle pick and present it to the unions for a multi-week review period prior to implementation. (3) It's MTA Bus Company, so all of the money is coming from New York City taxpayers rather than Connecticut taxpayers. |

I did see a DATTCO bus in one of the videos I saw on line. Also saw several NYC MTA buses (MCI's and a couple of artics). Also per a Facebook post from one of my driver friends he was in the Bridgeport shuttle mix today. He works for Rukstela Charter Service, a small (4 coaches) company from Eastford CT. Peter Pan uses them for protection runs at busy times.I saw a report on the news this morning on Boston's WCVB that showed a notice at the Peter Pan and Greyhound ticket counters stating all schedules for today to NYC sold out. I don't what Peter Pan and the Hound were able to round up for protection buses or if they were even able to. Busy time of the year for charter coach companies, end of year school trips probably have some coaches booked and unavailable. Also I would guess Bolt, Megabus and even Lucky Star sold out today as well. Mark |
