With how hard up PAT is for funds, you'd think that they'd try to get more years out of their buses instead of buying new buses...even if FTA money pays for most of the bus cost, there is still a cost put forth by PAT. |

Unfortunately when a bus gets to be 14 years old things start breaking down. Replacement parts are nearly non-existent on such an old bus and furthermore Neoplan is out of business. There Honeywell parts facilityis gone. And the labor costs to repair old vehicles in-house is costly. And finally the safety issues and compliance issues (ADA, environmental, etc.) make the bus virtually worthless. I hope the bus can be preserved in their museum fleet. |

Nice pictures.I hope PAT retires those Neoplan Cruisers. They look beat up and parts are scarce. I would not be surprised if they get DesignLines Cruiser because it's lesser costs to manufacturers MCI and PREVOST, but you never know |

There are still the 52/53/5400 series Gillig's (minus the ones retrofit with an ISL) and the 1500 series Phantom's left. And a few of the 3000 series artics will be staying around a little longer. |

Do you know if Midwest Bus Rebuilders are buying these coaches? The MBTA is having Midwest do a rehab on their 192 2005-06 AN440LF's. Would be a good parts source. Hopefully after the rebuild they will last 12 years. I drive them every day and some of the Neos are OK but most aren't that good! |

I rode 5150 on the #1 line back on April 1, which was a couple weeks before it was finally retired. 5014 and 5150 were the only two Neo 40-ft buses left in service at PAT at the start of April. |
