BM4 Fall 2012 schedule adjustments

WEEKDAY SERVICE

Towards Manhattan:(NEW! 70 minute headways off peak); All stops schedule is as follows 5:30, 6:00, 6:20, 6:40, 8:15, 8:45, 9:15 10:00, 11:00, 12:10, 1:20

Towards Gerritsen Beach: The 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM trip is combined into an 8 PM trip leaving a 75 minute headway between the 6:45 PM trip and the 8 PM trip.

SATURDAY SERVICE IS UNCHANGED

Is the cycle time on this route such that 70min headways on Saturdays wouldn't save anything?

at least the off peak headway (sat) are not being 90 min as they were under command.

Command Bus would simply run however much service they wanted to regardless of actual usage, then bill DOT for that cost plus a guaranteed 6% profit. The more they spent, the more guaranteed profit they'd get - in other words, they had a vested interest in being as inefficient as possible.

The answer is NO. Weekday off peak frequency reductions < 60min should be a last resort. If they want to save $$, eliminate the Saturday first. Less midday service might reduce rush hour ridership who likes to have a contingency in case they have to leave work early/late.

Command Bus Company ran only 1 bus on the BM4 and BM5 on weekends at any one time, and 2 buses on the BM1, BM2, and BM3 at any time.

I don't know about that - take BM4 Saturday service for example - up from 4 runs a day.
