MTA NYC Transit Bus service improvements : "20122013 Service Investments" {full list} |

Posted by Gold_12TH on Thu Jul 19 16:18:13 2012 Dear CustomersSince arriving at the MTA last November, I have been focused on two objectives containing costs and finding ways to maintain, improve and expand services that you, our customers, rely on every day to get to work, school and points in between. I am pleased to say that as a result of our efforts, we are announcing $29 million in service investments. Some of these investments will restore services that were reduced or eliminated as part of the MTAs 2009-2010 budget-balancing cuts. Other investments because the travel patterns of the region are constantly evolving will fund services that respond to the need for transit services in growing and changing neighborhoods. These service investments are the result of careful analysis, meeting our goal of serving all neighborhoods and areas with the best and most frequent bus, subway or commuter rail service possible under our current financial conditions. The funding for these service investments is the result of both aggressive efforts to reduce and control costs and also revenues from growing ridership. It is our priority to ensure that both of these efforts continue. The service investments on the pages that follow are proposed for Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and NYC Transit Bus and Subway. All of these proposals will be discussed with the MTA Board during the next few weeks and implementation of the service investments will be phased in over the course of a year beginning this coming October. Understand this the B 69 is hurting the B 67 on 7 Av, and Ill tell you right now it is still a service cut with B 69 going to weekends because I can tell you right now half those weekend buses on the B 67 are going to B 69. Like it is now on Weekedays. |

Good news: the damage Jay Walder did in desimating bus service is starting to rebound.Bad news: the B57. I ride it every day. The route is too long as it is and PM rush hour headways are too long (15 minutes) and service reliability sucks due to traffic conditions. Running time is insufficient. |

About time.Red Hook gets the B77 route back - - as pert of the B57 - - the route was extended from Dowtown Brooklyn to Smith-9th in 2010, now the on-time performance will get worse and Red Hook residents will once again get the shaft for late buses. The Bx13 to Gateway is long overdue - - it should be fully extended to the Hub. The Bx34 comes back on weekends but I am more in favor of modifying the Bx16/31 routes so Katonah Ave is served while the Bx41 runs along East 206th Street and Bainbridge Ave to Gun Hill, serving Montefiore/North Central hospitals. The Bx28/38 should be simplified where the Bx38 runs late night to all Co-Op City sections (not to Bay Plaza as it normally does.) We got what we wanted - - the most critical route restorations in Brooklyn, Staten Island and Queens. |

Bill I feel your pain..I use to ride the 57 back up from my City Tech days..a real pain in the butt due to wait times...sometimes Id be waiting as long as 40 minutes..Finally gave up..started taking the A train since that would set me off closer to where I needed to be for the afternoon-evening. Parking sucks downtown.. |
