Orion is actually way ahead of schedule on the order of 3G CNG's for CNYRTA.

Why is the MTA going through on the order when it was meant to evaluate for a larger order? Especially with Orion shutting down their plant.

Unless the bodies were already in jigs up in Ontario, I would have cancelled any further orders. Even at that, those buses are going to be mighty failure-prone, as the canadian workers are up in arms about all this.

This was a separately bid order. This is not part of BT&E. Daimler said that Orion would close after existing orders were fulfilled.

There is no history of buses that were built prior to a manufacturer shutting down being more failure-prone. The last Flxible Metros off the line performed admirably in Baltimore, and I haven't heard any bad news over the years about the DART RTS's in Dallas that were among the final buses of that model built at the Roswell plant (this was before Millennium came into the picture - all those employees knew is that Nova was stopping the RTS and focusing on the Quebec-built LFS).

True---however, the documented troubles between Orion and the CAW union have forced Queen's Park to intervene.

None of that means that employees will purposely allow shoddy work to go out the door.
