More new Gilligs in Buffalo (bye-bye, NABI's) |
|
|
Posted by RailBus63 on Tue Jun 19 12:43:45 2012 Link with video -WIVB.com - NFTA unveils new fleet of hybrid buses This means the retirement of the last of the 9500-series Ikarus/NABI 416's and some of the 9600-series Nova Classics, although there will still be approximately 12 to 15 Classics left in service. The era of fleet diversity in Buffalo is almost over - besides the remaining Classics and the 21 LFS's (both assigned to the weekday-only Cold Springs division), every other bus on the NFTA system is a Gillig low-floor. |

I rode New Flyer CNG in NYC and boy it was quiet and smooth. That why HART my job will be getting CNG starting early 2014 and they will start buy CNG paratransit van than buses in 2015. |

I rode a really beat up, high floor, Orion (I think) last summer on the Airport route to downtown. I walked to get it from Amtrak at Depew. Took me 40 minutes and it was humid as hell. |

The Orions have been gone for a few years. It might have been a Classic as they operate regularly on the 24 Genesee route from the airport to downtown. |

I liked the Novabuses up in New York quite a bit. On the 8000s I liked the fact that I didn't have to "crane my neck" to see over the bottom edge of the window like on the Gilligs and to an extent the New Flyers and Orion VIIs.I can't wait to see what the SEPTA version will be like. |
