From what I heard from Road Ops, for now, until more buses come in, you will only see those beasts on Pull Out and Pull In Q44 runs, no reliefs.

Do all articulateds have 3 doors?

Posted by gbs on Mon Jun 11 01:46:35 2012, in response to OMG Artic Q444444444, posted by G1Ravage on Sun Jun 10 04:47:05 2012.

I thought the three-door articulateds were introduced on the Select buses for quicker boarding at all doors. Are three doors now standard, even when only the front door is for entering?

Yes. Because all these new artics are from the same manufacturer. Should SBS come to a Stengel route some day, these same buses can receive an SBS wrap and be used for it immediately.

Interestingly it seems that most standard length transit buses in Europe have three doors, and in many systems passengers may enter through center or rear doors. This might be too complicated for Americans to deal with, but it seems to work well in European cities. Artics abroad often have 4 doors! Wait time at stops is minimal compared to New York bus stops. The 2-door artics were a terrible mistake or false economy. If only New Yorkers could be trained never to exit from the front door of an artic, we might have a chance. Hopefully the 3-coor artics will help speed our bus travel, if only people will use the doors sensibly.

I drive the LFS, It's garbage from an operator's point of view. Ask Big Bus Driver he'll tell you.

There was nothing wrong with the 2 door Artics. They're a much better bus all around the 1000's were prematurely retired.

I love the D60HFs. But dwell times are much higher with two door artics.

Yup. No arguement here. Absolutely the WORST designed bus I have ever had the misfortune to operate.

They should just go disel with the DPF and stop wasting people's money buying Hybrids. The Hybrids burn just as much gas Diesels. They burn just as dirty. They always have electrical issues. Another failure at the TA.
