Posted by daimlerbuses on Sun May 27 18:31:40 2012 This past weekend I ventured out to the east coast of Canada to visit Halifax. Halifax is known as one of only 2 cities that operate the very rare MCI/Nova Bus TC60102N Classic Articulated bus. Only 17 of the model were produced, 15 for Halifax and 2 for Quebec City (which were retired in 2009). Currently, 8 or 9 of these buses remain active in the Halifax fleet and I managed to get a few photos of them in service. There was also a fan trip on the Saturday using one of these buses but I always like to get a few in service shots as well. The Classic artics are not expected to last much longer as there is an order for an additional 20 Nova LFS artics due in late 2012/early 2013 which will likely replace the Classics.A selection of photos I took is below for your enjoyment:      Halifax's fleet also has 40' Classics, Nova LFS, D40LF, and Nova LFS artic. I will probably post some more shots later so enjoy these shots for now! |

That'snot entirely true. The first batch of Classics were GM of Canada and when MCI/TMC bought it out, they opened a facility here in Schenectady NY where the Classics were shipped incomplete, assembled and delivered from Schenectady. They called the company TMCI. Later when Nova Bus bought out TMCI, production slowed and moved back to Canada so the RTS production could begin in Schenectady. The 5000 series RTS were made in Schenectady (Made the same way the Classics were-body shipped to Schenectady then assembled, then delivered). The artic model was not offered to US Buyers as it was never Altoona tested. |
