I saw a camera on a NICE bus today!

I saw a camera near the driver's windshield on bus 1752 today. Looks like there's one facing outside and one facing in. So it looks like Veolia is finally taking the vandalism problem more seriously. There's been a rash of gang taggings in the buses. They really need to clean the criminal element off the buses and this is a good start.
The cameras will also be good in the event of an accident. They should have a sign though that says "this bus monitored by video recording device" like NJT has.
I would also like to see undercover NCPD ride the buses as well. Pardon me if I posted this earlier but this is what's happening to the seats on alot of the buses. I blotted out the most graphic part of it.

Why would Nassau County put cops on a private entity?

Veolia would have to pay for their own security force.

Nassau County owns the buses.

The Cameras are probably for incase of accidents and not because of vandalism problems.

I remember back when I went to high school, the bus company had a video camera facing the students, I don't think they gave any warning inside the bus, though they didn't need it as anyone who wasn't an idiot could see it as the thing that the camera was housed it in stook out like a sore thumb.

Should police act only to protect government property, and leave private citizens unprotected?
