Manhattan's Committee Board #4 recommends to deny Megabus permit

Community Board 4's Transportation Planning Committee has recommended that the permit for Megabus to run curbside pickup at the Port Authority Bus Terminal be denied.

A meeting was held on Wednesday at Fulton Auditorium in Chelsea. Approximately a dozen people showed up.

By a 5 to 2 vote, the committee recommended that the full board vote to deny the renewal of the permit on June 6.

The board's recommendation is purely advisory, but DOT has previously said it would listen to what the community wanted.

Megabus picks up passengers near the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan.

The Port Authority says the long lines and traffic have created safety and crowding problems.

Major companies that pay millions to operate at the busy hub have protested.

They want Megabus to pick up near the convention center.

How's PABT really any different for residents than the convention center, other than the convention center is even further from them. BTW, Javits will never happen
