I would like to introduce a new proposal for an express bus line connecting the Outerbridge Park-N-Ride, Eltingville Transit Center & Newark Penn Station.

X6 (Charleston/Yukon Split) Level of service similar to X10.

Outerbridge Park-N-Ride
-via Drumgoole Rd East/West stops to Huguenot Avenue
-via X17 route
Eltingville Transit Center
-via S89 route
Forest Avenue & Richmond Avenue
-via Bayonne Bridge
-via 440, I-78
-via McCarter Highway
Newark Penn Station

My first thought is that Staten Islanders headed to Amtrak can be accomodated on existing express bus services. What data do you have that convinces you that this proposal would be a good use of the MTA's already scarce resources?

Seems like a waste to send the buses all the way up to Newark when there are stations closer to SI which can just as easily be used as the western terminal. Not sure why you'd want to use the Bayonne Bridge, but if you use the Goethals then just terminate the route at Elizabeth or Rahway. If you end up using the Outerbridge Crossing, then go to Perth Amboy, Metropark, or both. Woodbridge would also be a viable alternative. It is better to provide number of functional trips with a transfer than to try to cater to one given market with a one seat ride which inconveniences the other trips that may be created.

Sounds good, not just as a connection to Amtrak/NJT but also for those who work in downtown Newark, as well as more local connections to NJT bus, et al.

How about extending it in the other direction over the Outerbridge Crossing to Metropark or New Brunswick?

Sounds pretty useless for the sake of connecting to Amtrak/NJT, but it could be a good line for folks working in Newark. Another line should go over the Outerbridge, possibly over to Metropark or down to New Brunswick

What I would do is create a new route (the S82) running from Bricktown, and then take Bloomingdale Road-WSE Service Road-WSE-South Avenue-SIE service road-Richmond Avenue and go to Bayonne.

Once in Bayonne, the bus would go up JFK Blvd, go over to I-78 and then get to Newark Airport.

The purpose would be to provide Bayonne residents with an easy ride to EWR rather than just SI residents.

With the S82 covering Bloomingdale Road, the S55 would be able to go over the Outerbridge Crossing to Perth Amboy. Also, the S98 would connect to Elizabeth (during rush hour, some runs would still go up to Arlington)

I'm not too familiar with SI or Bayonne, so are there folks in SI or Bayonne working at EWR? Folks flying out are not gonna produce regular ridership, but employees will. I could see more one line doing SI-Jersey Gardens Mall-EWR-Downtown Newark, with a limited run doing SI-Newark only doing rush hours. Where in SI it would go is beyond me though

I'm sure there are some, especially in Bayonne.
