In my opinion, they're being retired way too early. We have 52xx and 53xx artics at 126 and they run very well. The vast majority of drivers at 126 prefer the Flyers over the Nova's. As I've said before, the Nova is quiet, comfortable and has good ergonomics but performance wise, IT SUCKS! I'll take a Flyer any day! |

You don't like the Nova Artics?Nope. Wheel turns like an MCI. It keeps going, and going, and going. Drivers blind spot to left of driver is like having an open hand a foot and a half away from you AT ALL TIMES! When it rains, or when you leave the bus wash, there is no window to open to NOT look at water on window and water in mirror. And you can't reach the mirror to wipe it clean. Haven't found out if driver side mirror is heated or not. Look at above for reason. Driver side mirror mounted too low. We are gonna smack a lot of shit with that! Brake set point to activate interlock is halfway to China. Front door is moved more to the rear, to watch the animals you have to crane your neck more to back of bus. Not a 90 degree turn, more like 120 degrees. Bus is NOT articulated like the New Flyer. Rear of bus swings back and forth, but there is no true 'turntable'. Front half of bus is rigid. Now it is like you are driving a U-Haul with a ball and hitch trailer. Front doors are way - to - slow. There is a 2 second delay to make sure you want to open the door (?). Drivers compartment safety door weighs like 100 pounds. Shield is NOT sunlight friendly! 62' against 60'. Turns different. (See U-Haul comment above) Slow in turns. Yup, I guess you can say I don't like them. STILL LOL@NOVA NONSENSE |

Questions to consider: are these initial artic put into storage poor performers, as in shop Queens? Does MTA bus depots: LGA, JFK, Baisley Park, have lifts? Can artics handle the schedule on MTA bus routes? I think not due to additional dwell time. |

About five years ago, they fooled around with artics on the Q113. My guess is they were not found suitable for that route and service. But I would imagine that since the Q113 comes out of Baisley, that depot was equipped for artics, no? |

The problem was that they needed the artics for NYCT service and did not want to order artics for MTA Bus at the moment because they were busy replacing the ex-PBL buses first and making improvements to them and upgrading the garages first. But Baisley Park is supposed to be the MTA Bus artic depot along with JFK Depot. |
