Is it standard procedure for the driver to release the rear-door interlock at all stops? Or do they only use this if the 'Stop Request' goes off and/or they see a passenger in the rear at the door? |

That's a good question - I always wondered if this was the case with systems that have passenger operated rear doors (are the doors on the Novabuses passenger operated?). |

Here in Syracuse, I've noticed it varies. Most drivers will engage the interlock routinely on busy routes like South Salina or James, but as needed on a suburban route. |

This should greatly speed service on the crosstown routes. The two door artics were the worst choice tey could have made. It greatly slowed service when buses were crowded. |

So what? Of course it will take time for people to get used to it. But eventually people will start using all doors evenly. People use the door that is most convenient to them. In some cases it just doesn't make sense to use the rear door to exit. But in the end, with three doors, dwell time will be greatly reduced and the buses will travel quicker. |

You didn't say that before. Obviously the third door is supposed to help speed things up. That goes without saying. But this article (right or wrong) is specifically talking about how (and supposedly why) the third door doesn't get much use. So your comments should have specifically stated that you think it's just a matter of time until everything falls into place and the third door will start working its magic. |
