Valley Metro - RPTA-owned C40LFRs on Tempe routes

Last night, I was in Tempe, and to my surprise, I saw an RPTA-owned C40LFR on the 77 Baseline. I thought these only operate on the 72 and 81 routes. I am pretty sure it was an RPTA-owned bus since it wasn't in the new livery, nor did it have the white Luminator destination signs like the new Tempe-owned C40LFRs do.

I was wondering, have the Tempe routes operated by RPTA-owned C40LFRs changed? If so, what other routes are they operating?

Remember that when Tempe took over 72 and 81, the RPTA NABIs and 6401-6410 were moved over to Tempe. 6401-6410 were later traded for 6633-6647 (reportedly due to a fuel nozzle problem). Since the delivery of the newer buses, the 2008 buses have been showing up all over the Tempe system.

By newer buses, you are referring to the 2011 C40LFRs and DE60LFRs, is that correct?

Yes. When these were delivered, I started seeing the 66xx buses on Elliot, Priest, and Kyrene.

Interestingly enough the at least some of the newer buses have a label on the side that says Owner: Valley Metro as opposed to the standard label for Tempe owned buses of Owner: City of Tempe. I saw a 2011 C40LFR with the Owner: Valley Metro logo yesterday day but I forgot to jot down the bus number.

I think all of the RPTA buses say "Owner: Valley Metro" now; some of the older ones said "RPTA", while some of the EZ-Riders had "Owner: [blank]"

So, I'm guessing RPTA also owns the 2011 C40LFRs and DE60LFRs, even though they are based at the Tempe garage? What about the L40LFRs? I know Tempe and RPTA now do joint fleet procurements, and perhaps this could be a reason why.

I know there are plans going on to further unify Tempe and RPTA into a single division, which should be decided this year.

No. 6669-6675 and all of the 2011 buses are City of Tempe. All FTA funded as replacement buses (presumably foe EZ-Riders).

Oh, I was just confused since the labels say Owner: Valley Metro.

FYI, I am ABQ RIDE. I will use this account for now on, since I don't have access to my old email address.
