I wished other depots had designs half as nice as that, not shitty ones like SC with some flag and buildings on that looks like some 4th grader made. |

I ask because it's no different than the FI to Gleason, FLU to Stengel, OFS to Hale and Westside to Quill renamings.Me being in my late 40s, I felt the same when the TA dropped the double-lettered subway route designations, but of course over time I fell inline with the single letter designations. The change that downright offended me was the change from (external) New York City Transit Authority to this MTA-New York City Transit stuff. |

Amsterdam is at 129th and Amsterdam Ave. I don't think it was renamed (but, I could be wrong). 146th Street depot was renamed Mother Clara Hale many years ago.Nearby, there was 132nd St depot that was demolished and the current Manhattanville depot built on the same site. |

I don't really have an issue with the renaming, other than the fact that I don't see the connection between the Tuskegee Airmen and New York City. At least the other renamed depots were named for people who had a connection to the area, although using Jackie Gleason's name for a Brooklyn depot was a stretch IMO |

The new name is longer and more cumbersome to say and write.100th Street 4 syllables, 12 characters, easy to spell. Tuskegee Airmen 5 syllables, 15 characters, more difficult to spell. |

The depot renamings you cite were all named for individuals. The depots can be referred to by the person's last name, as you just did. The 100th Street Depot was renamed for a group of people. Shortening the name would produce either "Tuskegee" or "Airmen," neither of which flows off the tongue as easily as "Hale" or "Quill". |

Or even US History for that matter. SMH.....And I don't see the big deal. They renamed a depot..... OMG! Get over it. You can call it whatever you want, but the official name is Tuskegee Airmen (TU).
