You rode few times.

I rode a couple times already, Most recently, yesterday afternoon rush hour. BusTime was way, way, way off when the bus arrives 7 mins late due to traffic back up at Penn Station/8 Avenue Eastbound. Poorly accurate times.

Every bus stop since I board at 8 Av, there are MANY clueless passengers, still have to go to front door to dip their MetroCard yet B/O pleading to them to pay at the SBS machines first before boarding. I've seen their faces, they look angry.

The boarding and de-boarding times on a Orion VII bus sucks. It takes way too long, it may take up to 2 to 3 minutes.

Travel times is just awful: Jaywalking is a major problem because of bus lane or King Bloomberg's "plazas" since that lane is virtually empty, yet people think it is better to walk on the bus lane since there no vehicles except buses on that lane. NYPD park cars on bus lane is just adding to the problem.

I left at Park Av and it takes 20 mins on the SRO bus ride.

MTA & NYCDOT needs to fix this and all SBS lines.

It is absolute failure.

Happy now that you've heard from an unsatisfied rider? How long would you say until newbie problems are worked out? Don't forget unlike Second Avenue, 34 th gets more tourists. So there will always be more newbies.

If the lane is always virtually unusable, then it's fair to say it's a permanent condition.

That is my entire point. If traffic is blocked because of double parking and that lane now becomes a bus lane, even with enforcement, it is unreasonable to assume that it will be clear all of the time. Buses will now have to shift into the only moving lane for cars which has to make things slower, further reduce capacity for autos and cause congestion.

The sensible thing would be to allow cars to shift to Classon Avenue where there is excess capacity instead of first removing that excess capacity before SBS takes affect.

I am not aware of sny streets except near a beach where summer traffic is higher than it is during the other nine months. That plus the typo in my mind makes the accuracy of DOT's work highly suspicious.

There is no bus lane on that segment of Bedford Avenue.

Again, after the lane is eliminated, Classon Avenue will be able to handle twice the traffic is carries now.

The nearest continuous count station is Kent Avenue at Park Avenue. June is the highest month. According to a NYSDOT highway data collection workshop, "Even winter resorts show summer peaks."

That plus the typo in my mind makes the accuracy of DOT's work highly suspicious.

The numbers come directly out of an automated counter.

I was talking about the bus lane once SBS is instituted. I know there is none now.

June may be the highest month. It certainly isn't July as these counts claim meaning they are inaccurate and are underestimating demand.

When the lane on Classon is eliminated, the street will carry nearly half the capacity. How will the lane elimination double the capacity? Traffic has to become more congested with Bedford traffic diverted there and one lane less.

I was talking about the bus lane once SBS is instituted. I know there is none now.

There won't be a bus lane with SBS, either. It was eliminated from Bedford Avenue between Fulton and DeKalb.

June may be the highest month. It certainly isn't July as these counts claim meaning they are inaccurate and are underestimating demand.

"They" aren't anything. It's raw data. I only used it to estimate operations because it's publicly available (and I used a count closer to Myrtle Avenue that was taken in October). The MTA analyzed 28 intersections using turning movement counts (slide 15), and none were over capacity.

When the lane on Classon is eliminated, the street will carry nearly half the capacity. How will the lane elimination double the capacity? Traffic has to become more congested with Bedford traffic diverted there and one lane less.

I didn't say removing the lane would double capacity; I said it would be at about 50 percent capacity after the lane is removed. That means it's about a quarter capacity now. Yes, it would become more "congested" if traffic from Bedford diverts there; ideally, they would both be at roughly 70-75 percent capacity.
