No, you could have been right, 9725 hasn't been seen in a couple of days on the S59, and the Ronkonkoma yard has been switching buses from route to route for the last week.9924 was seen on the 7B last Friday, then the next day (the day i saw 1033 on the 7D), it was on the 7D. 1066 wasn't seen the past couple of days on the S59 either. |

I didn’t mean to sound as if I was disputing the sighting, I was just surprised to see it again in service on the S59 after reading the latest rosters posted stating that it may have been retired. I wonder if 9721 turns up again somewhere as well. |

I was torn between weather you were disputing the sighting or not, so i just went with what i thought was the right one. I know it was surprising to hear about 9725. I know i was surprised when i saw 9722 on the route earlier in the year, still think that bus was making me feel bad that day for not having my camera with me to capture it. It was the first time i ever recall seeing a 97xx bus on the route.I was lead to believe that 9725 was retired because of a friend saying that he hadn't see it on the 59 since 1066 had been placed on it or the last two times he was at the mall when he saw 9923, 9938 and 9937 on the 59. Besides the suffering Suffolk Bus has seemed to be doing with some of the 99xx buses and the fact that Suffolk Bus Corp has more 35ft Orion VII then they had in 96xx buses, that needed fare boxes. It could be, so far 9724 is officially said to be gone, by a driver that does the route that it was normally on. I'll go out tomorrow and see what turns up. i'd be surprised if i see 1031 on the 7D again, from what i heard it was on the route yesterday. |

If 1062 is a 30ft bus, then that means me and my source was wrong with the numbering. Hopefully i'll see 1062 when i go to the mall and would have a defiant answer to what bus it is. |

They had 1061 and a 9927 running the 6B yesterday.if 1061 is a 35ft bus then that means that there are like five to ten 35ft buses that can be assigned else were as Suffolk Bus already has 1016-1032 and now would seem 1061-1065. EBT has 1039 (i figure they have 1033-1039, Inter County has 1043 (i figure 1040-104x) Sunrise need 4 as they have that many 96xx left and HJ need one as they only had 9620 so thats five. |

All S-routes (such as S1, S40, S92) are primary local bus routes, for the most part (I say for the most part because the S25 just serves Babylon RR and North Babylon); all number-letter routes (such as the 6D, 10C) are LIRR feeder routes, which run from certain LIRR stations to certain communities too far from any LIRR service (such as Coram or Holtsville). Others, such as the Suffolk Clipper, are express or miscellaneous routes, I guess. Not too sure about that. Can someone enlighten us here? |

There is only 6A and 6B.The 6B doesn't serve a LIRR station, and the 5A didn't until 2003. I don't think the 2A or 2B serve a LIRR station. The Suffolk Clipper is an express route to SUNY Farmingdale. The S35 is like the S25 |

My Guess for EBT's 35ft Orion VII was proven wrong today by a friend.Suffolk Bus Corp: 1016-1034 (1034 was on the 6B today) EBT: 1039 (My Guess: 1036-1039, to cover the 4 50xx sent to CBS) Inter County: 1043 (My Guess: 1040-1048, replace the remaining 96xx) Sunrise Coach: ???? (My Guess: 1049-1053, replace the remaining 96xx) Hampton Jitney: ???? (My Guess: 1054-1055, Could take one or two, since they had one 96xx bus, but took two 50xx buses) Suffolk Bus Corp: 1062 (My Guess 1060-1065) Disclaimer: my guesses are only factor replacing existing 96xx buses or in EBT's case replacing the transferred 50xx buses. This ,ay not be how the order is worked, there is a 50-50 chance that this is correct Due to the bus another friend seeing today being possible 1034 and not 1062, it calls back into question 1062. Though if my guess is right 1062 should be a 35ft Orion VII NG. |

I think a route# is assigned to every route for legal purposes. Since Route 110 is the principal destination when the route was drawn, it is logical to assign the S-110 designation.I also think that the name Suffolk Clipper is a nickname applied for advertising purposes to imply that the bus will get you to/from Route 110 in a speedy manner. Similar to the Flushing #7 train being called the "International Line" due to its ethnic diversity. For operating and signage purposes it's still the#7 |

I heard that before the 20xx Gilligs were brought, that Harran used coach buses on the S110, maybe thats why it was called Suffolk Clipper, and then when Suffolk brought the 20xx Gilligs for the route then numbered it 110 because it would have a destination sign where as when the coach buses there were no signs, and to show that both routes were the same thats why they use both? |

They ran their OTR coaches. Don't know if it was subsidized or not. At the time, news reports claimed that the buses weren't full. If county subsidized, might be a smaller loss by using Gilligs. |
