The oldest NOVABUS currently still in service today is #8752..assigned to Fresh Pond Depot. I remember when it arrived brand new.

I rejected that crap twice already on the Q55, and will keep avoiding it till its dead. All of the random 1996 Novas being revived and sent here are an insult(except a few like 9219), there is no shortage of buses in FP nor does the Q58 Limited need more buses, the route will use the same amount it always has when the limited goes into effect.

P.S., 8752 is not the oldest, Eastchester is currently using 8750. As long as it stays there, it doesn't bother me.

New Rumor..B43 from GA to Gleason

Supposedly, drivers from GA are protesting the move of the B43 from GA to Gleason. The move i believe would be easier on drivers(relief would be run-off instead of Manhattan Av and Nassau Av). Though GA lost a lot of work recently, with a B43 loss, here is all they would have left:

B13,B24,B47,B57,B60,B62,Q59.

pathetic isnt it?

mind you, the same rumor has the Q54 moving from FP to GA.

Granted, JG Depot took a huge reduction because up the cuts, but GA took a hit also. FP only has 8 routes, and doesn't need a reduction, it very light loaded as it is. If anything ENY should have swaps done to it since it didn't get affected by the cuts. How about splitting the B12 with JG?

I don't see it happening; the MTA would have a hard time justifying the existence of the Grand Avenue garage. The garage only has about 150 buses.

The other reason I don't see it happening: Gleason lost the B43 to Grand Avenue when it opened. If deadheads are the issue, then the MTA should build in runs that drop out at Meeker Avenue and go back to the garage from there (or require a change of buses at Meeker Avenue where the relief bus would begin its trip)...and note it in the public schedule.

Of course, when the B44 SBS starts, that may change everything, and I could see the B43 leaving THEN.

I think they need to make the Q32 back to the way that it was-as a split between MJQ and CS. With the Q32 currently being all out of CS, they make unnecessary deadheads to and from Manhattan. I don't think that's saving the MTA any money by doing that. Not only that, but the service on that line has gotten to be pretty lousy. 15-30 minute waits for a bus during the midday? That's attrocious for a busy line like that.
They should make the M104 a split between MHV and MJQ.
The Q58 should be a split between CS and FP.

Why when you have the Q19 on Astoria Blvd, the Q66 on Northern Blvd, and the 7 train on Roosevelt? There's way too much traffic between 82-108 Street, Therefore, I can never see the Q32 being extended to Flushing. If anything, the Q32 can be combined into the Q33 and it could serve LGA Airport. Then, the "Q33" would be eliminated.

I think the (7) trains ridership speaks for itself when it comes to the need for a single route along Roosevelt Avenue for its length. The Q32 would provide additional capacity to the heavily overloaded (7), and give handicap riders an alternate method to get to points along the (7).

The Q33 should be extended to Woodside to give LIRR riders direct access to LaGuardia Airport.

ok so if you extend the Q 32 to Flushing, then what are you going to do about the Q 48? That is duplication of service that is not necessary along Roosevelt Av.

As for combining the Q 32 and Q 33, I did mention that once but after evaluating the passenger flow, that is nightmare waiting to happen. So that is not going to happen but extending the Q 33 to Woodside makes sense.

What about instituting short-turns on the combined route...or ending the Q32 at 2 Avenue? (The Q101 would be extended to Penn Station to take its place.)

The Q32 would run as trips between LGA and 74 Street and between LGA and 2 Avenue.

The Q32 should be left alone. The B24 route should be discontinued and replaced by extending both the Q33 and Q104 routes as follows: The Q33 route would be extended west to Williamsburg Bridge Plaza via Roosevelt Avenue, 48th Street, BQE, Kingsland Avenue, Metropolitan Avenue, Rodney Street(E/B)/Marcy Avenue(W/B) and Broadway. The Q104 should also be extended from 48th Street/Queens Blvd. to Greenpoint Avenue/West Street via Greenpoint Avenue thus replacing the Greenpoint Avenue segment of the B24 route. This would make both the Q104 route and Q33 route more viable than the present B24 route which basically travels in circles.

Because the route in Co-op City is being changed. The Q50 will not pull into Section 1, and I'm not sure if it will pull into Section 4 either. (It will terminate in Section 5, and then run via the Hutch and Co-op City Boulevard to Pelham Bay.)

The Bx23 will be a circulator.

It looks like that Eastchester might be getting the Bx23, and College Point; the Q50. The MTA is assuming that people who live in Sections 1-4 of Co-op City don't go to Flushing, so obviously there will be mass confusion for the first week after the changeover. Hard to believe a bus route that was once a Queens Surface/Queens Transit Corp. route is about to vanish into thin air on September 12th.
