What is the actual or approximate time when travel the entire length GWB to South Ferry on local / limited?

Im guessing over 90 minutes or maybe longer.

I really dont think MTA would achieve savings on this route with the traffic in Manhattan streets is horrendous.

This route could end up close to 2 hours. I would not be surprised if some trips were short-turns, or if the route in the future were truncated at its northern end to Columbia-Presbyterian.

It would be a good idea if the M5 Limited went to South Ferry,
and the M5 Local went to West Broadway and Houston Street. But
that's only what I think should be done with the route.

At night when I'm coming home from Midtown, I use the M6 to get to the ferry rather than the M15 or the subway because I find it to be the quickest and most reliable. The M5 will be better because it'll run more often.

But does the M5 Limited run when the M5 Local runs?

On that note, I don't really like how 4 different bus routes serve Broadway north of West 57th Street, why not reroute the M5 to Broadway to fix this gap or get rid of the M5 (Riverside Drive residents can walk one block to Broadway) and extend the M104 to the GWB since it's getting cut back to Times Square.

Two reasons:

1. What about the area just north of Columbia University?
2. Too much service unless the M104 would be eliminated too.

The M5 except for its southern end follows its former FACCo routing almost to a T.

The M5 already runs on Broadway between Columbus Circle and 72nd Street. They can't run buses on Broadway between the Circle and 47th Street because the new traffic pattern doesn't allow for bus stops (or so I've heard). They can't run along Broadway from 47th to 42nd and from 35th to 33rd because that's closed, nor can they run from 42nd to 35th or between 33rd to 24th because of the aforementioned new traffic pattern.

Actually, what should probably happen is that the M104 is extended up to the Bridge and the M5 ends at CCNY, although I'm not exactly sure how the turn-around would be.

At that point, I'd send it in a loop through campus. Which reminds me, I still haven't heard back from Hunter yet. That's odd.

I'd personally like to cut the M5 back to Columbia University (Or Columbia University Hospital if the demand is there) and 42nd Street as I understand it's primarily for Riverside Drive residents.

2 routes need to be extended to the Bridge: The M11 and M104.

Oh, and the money for a M11 extension would come from a M100 elimination.

And the M5 is one of the worst in the depot for delays right after the M60's. Almost everynight I write 10-15 late slips for the M5 operators.
Me thinks though its the bad line dispatchers on the route who don't shit for the operators.

I'd run the M5 as follows:

- Northbound via Riverside, 135th, to Amsterdam.

- Southbound via Amsterdam, right 133rd, right Broadway, left 135th, left Riverside.
