A quick trip to "Charm City" Monday. A few shots attached, including the new Orange Line Cirulator. The Green & Purple routes slated to start late Spring.
Love the new paint scheme,; looks like fancy barbed-wire. I note the use of blue and green, the old MTA colors. Bring back the "flying T" logo.
The circulator was NOT without its glitches. The "next arriving bus" indicators were out of whack, as was the 10 minute intervals 'tween buses.
The Rabbit Express runs commute 'tween York, Pa and Timonium Station.

njoy,
jrc

Great pics , but can you imagine the cost to replace a windshield on the circulators.

Nice pics. I probably might look to make a trip down there after the summer; I haven't been to Charm City since the 8700s were still running.

Nice pics! I love the idea of the Circulator service. I really hope that it catches on and becomes popular and successful. I would hate for it to go unused and ultimately discontinued. How did ridership seem when you rode it?

Nice photos. We must have just missed each other (Don't know what you look like to begin with). I was photographing that same corridor as 9046, in fact the bus passed me like 3 minutes before it got to you :)

Glad you like, JM. Thanx.
The circulator was carrying quite well. All sorts of people on it; it is free, after all.
Drivers friendly, sure enough. Some glitches in the scheduling. Buses somewhat comfortable, but not as smooth as when on 42nd Street.(LOL)
With mostly longitudinal seating, the buses are still cramped; typical low floor nonsense. I stood several times, feeling like I was on the NG's here.

The Rabbit Express coach is a 2000 MCI E-4500, ex- Concord Coach Lines (NH). Rabbit Transit has owned it since October 2007, when I saw it & took photos of it on the Museum of Bus Transportation's annual meeting bus tour, Rabbit Transit's garage was one of the stops. It had just been acquired and repainted but not yet registered at the time of the MOBT visit.

Joe, excellent pics. Thanks for sharing.

Thanx, Mark, for the info re RABBIT. Also thanx for the compliment; glad you liked them.
Do you know much about York, Pa? I remember YATA was the operator down there. Is that now Rabbit or or they separate entities?
Thanx,
joe

I believe YATA was renamed Rabbit Transit some years ago. If anyone else here can confirm or clarify please do so. The 2007 MOBT trip was my only visit to York. The fleet then was a mix of Gillig Phantoms & low floors, including an early Advantage low floor ex-factory demo and a few cutaways for Rabbit Express. Also, they had a few Orion I's that were retired shortly after the MOBT visit and a couple of ex-SEPTA Neoplans that had just been retired and awaiting disposition.

Massbusmark, you are right on the money. YATA's operating name is "Rabbit Transit", although I believe their official name may still be YATA. When I last visited York back in 2006, their fleet was made up of "late model" Gillig Phantoms and generally Coach and Equipment Cutaways. I didn't see any low floors, unfortunately...perhaps it wasn't running. The CNG New Flyers were sold to State College's "CATA" system. There were also cutaways used for the Rabbit Express as well...I believe they were Goshen built.

All of the remaining Orions (30 footers) seemed to be assigned to the Hospital Parking shuttle along with the 3 Neoplans. Once the shuttle operation ended (I believe this was in early 2008 or late 2007) the Neoplans were sold.

A few pictures of Rabbit Transit "Back Then":

EXCELLENT! Thanx for posting those Neofan. BTW one of those red cut-aways, like 139 above, made it here to the Bronx for some unidentified operator. I have spotted it a few times but haven't seen it for well over a year. It was still red with the rabbit logo.

Thanks! I'm kind of surprised that they would get rid of some of the cutaways so soon. Of course, cutaways have such a short service life.

I wonder if it would be possible for Rabbit to invest in more 30 foot buses to replace the cutaways.
