This always happends esp @ the Ave P overpass. If you ever go there at the street level you'll see the dents and scares from the trucks hitting the overpass. I remember a while ago a truck went under the Kings highway overpass on the brighton line and the truck just barely made it under! The roof was rubbing against the overpass causing some sparks to fly. |

You would think that NYCDOT would put up some sort of warning bars or chains similar to what Philadelphia has on Richmond Street near a similar type of low overpass. |

Yeah I saw it, and could not believe it myself. The driver had to be embarrassed because there was so many people taking pictures of this. Basically from the looks of the damage the trailer portion was not actually bent in half but more like cut in half. When you look at the picture you can see how the bottom portion was halfway cutup. The interesting part was there was work being done on the Avenue J station at the same time this incident happened. |

LOL, the posted height clearance is 10 FEET, 10 INCHES and the tractor-trailer combination is most likely 13 FEET, SIX INCHES.There are 1,000 feet advance warning signs posted at Coney Island Ave (facing east on Avenue J) and Ocean Ave (Avenue J facing west), doesn't anyone read them?????? |

There ARE warning signs posted by Coney Island Ave and Ocean Ave. Structure or no structure, the truck has no business using this street unless making a delivery in the area. |

That was what I said to myself when I saw the truck... I don't like anyone during these times to loose their job but if he gets fired for this, he should have known better. there is no reason why he should have even attempted to go under. should have made the left at E 15 St..lol |
