The NYS legislature outlawed the buck a month fee, so they hit the politically impotent out-of-staters. The SI service center handles 4 agencies: 3 in NYS and the PANYNJ, but you have NO discretion over which of the 4 agencies they will assign you to when you apply. The PANYNJ still charges a monthly fee.I live in NJ, don't drive to downsate NY anymore, dumped the PANYNJ E-ZPass and the the DRJTBC one for about 4 years. Then they started the dollar a month club last spring. Now I am with Peace Bridge Authority. |

The NYS legislature outlawed the buck a month feeYes, which was the right thing to do. so they hit the politically impotent out-of-staters. Yes, which was extremely unethical and immoral. And not just "out of staters", but anyone who had a non-NY Service Center tag. "E-ZPass rates apply only to tags issued by New York E-ZPass Customer Service Center (This includes: MTA Bridges and Tunnels, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, New York State Turnpike Authority and New York State Bridge Authority). Other E-ZPass tags will record the cash rate to cross MTA facilities." Ridiculous. but you have NO discretion over which of the 4 agencies they will assign you to when you apply. They claim it is based on your home address. But because they sent me a PANYNJ tag that I didn't want, I just took it up to a walk-in center and swapped it for a tag I did want. While they were happy to do it, it involved closing the account I just created, and opening another one. Another option is to simply purchase an E-ZPass On The Go tag at a retailer. You'll know exactly which agency's tag you're purchasing. Then they started the dollar a month club last spring. Now I am with Peace Bridge Authority. I was with Peace Bridge Authority for many years. But once the TBTA pulled this stupid stunt, I was forced to give it up and get a local E-ZPass tag. |

Illinois I-Pass doesn't have a fee either, but the deposit is $50 rather than the usual $25. But that's my next choice. |

Various aspects of these pages are broken or out of date or downright just weird, but you'll get the idea. Best to probably call ahead to see if they have it, and to ask whose agency the tags are.1. NY Service Center listing of E-ZPassŪ On-The-Go Retail Locations 2. TBTA specific listing of E-ZPass On-the-Go Retail Locations ------- Take Pride,

From experience, you can only get the Staten Island Resident discount with a TBTA or PANYNJ tag. An educated guess would be similar circumstances for Grand Island and Far Rockaway discounts. |
