Well these aren't repaints at all.They took a white mask and placed it over the blue and yellow stripe, then placed the blue stripe on that white mask. The back doors are driver operated as by Bee-Line's specifications and the interlocks work differently that a MTA spec'd bus. Either they changed that or there is gonna be a notification to the operators as to how to operate the interlocks on these doors. -Trevor www.ttmg.org |

Just outta sheer curiosity, did you think about the reasoning behind wanting to seed these Orion Vs to Ulmer Park. Ulmer has never operated an Orion V, so why would you send a bus type to a facility that has yet to operate them. Doesn't it make more sense to send the Orion Vs to a facility that already is used to the bus type (i.e. JFK, Eastchester, Far Rockaway). The only Brooklyn Division Depots that operates Orion Vs are Spring Creek and Jackie Gleason. Me and You BOTH know they aren't sending these buses there because of the CNG campaign. Granted Spring Creek operates Diesel buses.Don't let personal wants to cloud feasibility. Its not feasible to send these buses to Ulmer Park. -Trevor |

Ulmer Park hasn't gotten new buses in a long time for local service. Some people may say that 5075-5124 that they have now is new but they are from FLatbush. I'm just wondering if it is politics that is preventing Ulmer Park from recieving newer buses. That's all. |

And another thing: What'll be done with the side signs? If nothing is done, I suppose they can work at FRK and JFK. However at ECH, all they have are routes with 4 or more characters in them (BxM6, BxM7, BxM7A, BxM7B, BxM9, BxM10, QBx1). Sticking them at BP won't work either.(For those who are not aware, these buses have LCD side signs, similar in appearance to the side signs on R44 and R46 subway cars. The signs support 3 characters in the route portion and 15 characters in the destination portion.) |

If you remember, those buses were delivered new to Gun Hill. From there, they were transferred to Flatbush. FYI, Ulmer Park never gets new buses. I believe it has something to do with the union. I can't remember when UP got any "new from the factory" buses. I've been bus-fanning since the early to mid 1980's, and I can't recall new buses there in the past 25 years!!! |
