These buses were not well maintained at Ulmer Park. While they were in express service, before the MCI's bumped them to local routes, they basically had one trip in the AM, one on the PM, if even that. Low mileage. Weekends and holidays off!Later, their soft seats and narrow aisles were despised while the mileage was finally yanked up. Now they are like 12 years old, original paint, presumably never had a good overhaul and MTA bus has had these dumped on them. And LGA "maintance" doesn't help a bad situation. Once the former Bee Line Orion V's are introduced, there should be a massive upgrading of these at Eastchester. Will they do it? Don't hold your breath. I think the especially bad performers will be retired within a year. |

I've seen them a few times on the B82 and they don't look pretty. And again, Far Rock is much better than LGA. The only thing is they have some routes that really tacks on the milage. They are not like the Manhattan crosstown routes that only has to go back and forth a few times with time to 'rest' at the last stop. |
