[Tell me what you think of the new livery]

The colors look very similar to the fairly new livery used in Richmond, Virginia. See the photo below taken by me last month:

Dontwalkhand, did you take these photos at the Grand Opening ceremony of the Superstition Springs Transit Center?

If so, are there any photos of the new transit center? What about the next bus display for LINK?

Also, is 6667 the only bus with the new livery? This was the bus used in the photos on the Valley Metro website and I saw 6667 today on Route 30. It just seems too much of a coincidence if there are more buses with this livery.

When I saw 6667 today, it looked really dull. Seeing it with my own eyes, I can finally say that it is too boring and bland. Like I said before, "Valley Metro" or the logo should be larger.

And thanks for the photos!

Yeah I took it at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the transit center. I did get a video of the new stop, and video of the next bus signs.

From what I know, when I talked to some of the higher ups at Valley Metro there, 6667 is currently the only bus that is in the new livery. They said that it is just a prototype, and that they are waiting on input from the public to see whether they like the style of this bus, and if they get more "Don't Likes" than "Likes" then they will go back to the drawing board.

I myself, wrote on the comment card that "Valley Metro" should be bigger.

As for the NextBus displays, it seems as if they just took the signs from the light rail stops, and shoved them on the bus stops. They are the same Daktronics platform signs that you see at the light rail stops, but right now they are being used as fancy clocks, that do nothing but flash the date and the time.

They are waiting on getting it activated, because in order for these to work, they said they have to fix the Route Scouts on the LINK buses, but the current implementation of Route Scout is due for a replacement, and we may see a completely different Route Scout from a different manufacturer on the new AZ Ave LINK bus. They said the NextBus signs should be activated in a few weeks, as they rig it to work with the current equipment they have., but do not expect reliability until the new equipment arrives.

As for the Route Scouts, Orbital's Transit division got bought out by another company, and Valley Metro was promised a software update years back, but never got one, which is the reason for malfunctioning route scouts, and announcements being played at the wrong spots. I asked about some of the errors, and they said the GPS trigger points are plotted at the right spots on their maps, but the software is so buggy that is why we get messed up announcements at times.

So it looks like now Valley Metro is trying to find another provider for their "Route Scout"...Clever Devices anyone??

But nonetheless, they did say the NextBus Signs will be working with current equipment in the coming weeks they said.

FWIW, I saw 6668 ferrying to the west end of route 30 on November 8. It was in the new design.
