I remember a stop request sign was added, a la the RTS. It was a small version unlike the RTS which was much bigger. |

Ulmer Park DID have the blitz buses and had the last 77 Flx in service. Flx #9178 was assigned to Ulmer Park during 1993.And the reason why Ulmer Park had Blitz? Because of a incident that occured with them running on Staten Island Verrazano Bridge. They were pulled off express lines and sent to Ulmer Park. |

Bus #9005 was rebuilt with a front end from a 5000 series Flxible due to a front end accident. Bus 9013 was equipped with a wheelchair lift.MWAP |

An express bus on the highway in Brooklyn had a bellows let loose, and the bus, at speed, dropped onto the rear duals. The rear tires came up THROUGH the wheelwell and exploded the wheelwell, blinding a passenger. All Blitz' were pulled (quietly) from express service after that. Hudson got 5552, 5553 and IIRC a few others. They were FAST!!! |

I always wondered why the rest of the buses didn't have the two-piece sign curtains. Also, in addition to those last 5 TA buses (9155-9159) having the DD 8V-71N engine... OA's first 5 (9160-9164) also had the DD 8V-71N engine. Those buses were rockets! |

Those first 5 MaBSTOA 9000's firstassignment was at the Coliseum Depot. The drivers used to fight with yard dispachers to get one of those sweet sounding 8V-71's. I use to ride them all the time when I lived by the old Bx9 route (Eastchester Road) and these buses would fly down the street and let out a roar when the throttle was cracked open. Man, how I miss the old days!!! MWAP |

I recall COL's group being 9160-9184. I was about 12 years old, but I lived on Vyse Ave near Tremont, so I saw and rode them often on the Bx40. I always liked the regular 9000s, but those 8-cylinder buses were so cool. I recall 9160-9164 later being sent to West Farms. Do you know if they got rid of 9155-9164 early? I ask because at some point in the early 1980s (probaly '83 or so), they seem to vanish and I never saw them again.I agree with you. I sorely miss the old days too. Buses were buses and not the crap we have nowadays. |

No WJ, alot of the 9000's from the Bronx were transfered to Manhattanbecause of a bus shotage in that boro. Some went to 54th Street, 100th Street, and the Hudson Pier. I myself was sorry to see them go, because I lived in the Bronx most of my life, and was a custom to riding thses buses very often. The 310 9000's, along with the 267 Flxibles from 1973, and the 398 Flxibles from 1975 became the backbone of the City of New York's surface fleet for several years until newer equippment place all into retirement by 1993. It should also be noted that 11 of the 9000's were sent to MSBA for their service. Nos. 9031,9032,9045,9046,9047,9048,9050,9052,9053,and 9057. MWAP |
