The money that is being spent on just one these pieces of shit, I could by 6 fishbowls from 1975 equipped with 8V-71 engines with N55 series injectors, and VS2-8 3-speed automatic transmissions with a 4-5/7 rear axle ratio and 1.04 angle drive gearing, and blow the fuckin' doors off the Orion NG.MWAP |

That can't be 100% true because all I ever see Castleton running is NGs. Although OTOH, the few years of negligent maintenance seem to be catching up to CAS and Yukon as those Orion Vs are starting to break down a lot more. |

In the past the TA has done their "as cheep as possible" routine ... mfg. have wanted the business because the TA is a big account, so they put in bids & won them. But in the subways & at the bus div. the TA then nickle & dimed these companys to death ... literary. So now there is very few mfg. out there. Somebody needs to tell those bean counters if you don't let the mfg. make a profit they aren't going to be there the next time ! |

They never should've retired all the NYBS fishbowls. Yes I know about the ADA compliance, but that's a poor excuse to retire perfectly good buses. |

When a few of them on the internet talk smack (over at SILive), I try to explain to them that their division isn't highly regarded. MTA_SI needs to defect to another borough so he can drive buses that get maintained every now and then. At least in Brooklyn, you don't have to be politically connected to get decent bus service. JG and FLA don't make a habit of keeping garbage buses on the road. |

I have a good question about the Grumman Flx'slol why is it NYCTA had problems with them but yet they get sold to NJT and shipped across the Hudson to run for years on end I cant understand why we couldnt fix the quote unquote cracked frames LMAO if the frames were so bad NJT wouldnt have bought right ???? I think theres alot more too this than some frames I think politics played a role with this |

I think because the bus burnt up near MTA headquarters in Manhattan kinda sealed the deal with the Grummans leaving NY. Whats funny is when the frames were cracking, they were pulled off the road, fixed by Grumman and repaired back in service. Green lines pulled them off and i don't know what happened to the Triboro Coach ones. Anyone know why Command and Quens Surface never ordered them?B77-#7599-Orion VII |

I've been on S.I. for 8 years, I started in brooklyn at Ulmer Park, and I have worked Gleason. I was glad to get the transfer when i did, since i was starting a family, but Yukon is a lot more "political" than castleton, thats why i'll never go back there. |

All politics and small peckers.Perhaps DOB is setting up camp in the borough to rein the whole division in. Man, I would love to see that. You might even get some more running time with a DOB invasion. That and proper bus maintenance is probably #1 and #2 on an SI driver's Christmas list. |

The TA did what they do every time a new piece of equip. arrives ... they tinker with it.i.e. some of the modifications the TA did messed up the Grumman's, then they ask Grumman to fix them ... it cost so much to undo what they did when the cracks appeared they dumped them because they were embarrassed. Other operators left them alone, fixed the cracks & then lasted for years there. |

I know drivers out here in Jersey are animals, dealing with them on a daily basis is not fun, but yet it keeps a person on their toes. |
