When attending the 2009 NYC Transit Bus Roadeo last Saturday at
Floyd Bennett Field, it was nice to see a bigger variety of Museum Buses out on display including the 1958 GMC 5106 model bus #9098,
1961 GMC 5301 model Fishbowl bus #1059, and 1956 Mack bus #6259.
I also could'nt help noticing that new front chrome bumpers were added to both Museum NYCTA Fishbowl buses #1059 and #3758.
Yet does both these GM Fishbowl's still need more restoration?

I was told by one of the NYC Transit officials at the 09 Bus Roadeo that Museum Bus #9098 had undergone major restoration; while Vintage
Bus #'s 1059 and 3758 were both just repaired. So if it true that both bus #'s 1059 and 3758 still need major restoration work?

The bumpers were sent out and straightened and rechromed. 5117 has been given a fairly thorough drivetrain overhaul as well as suspension work. In fact most of the buses look as though they had suspension work including shocks and air bags. The Mack is nearly if not totally roadworthy and 9098 is pretty much a rebuilt bus. Kudos to the men and women that have given attention to the museum fleet, they look great and could go out and work on a moment's notice. By the way 100 still needs the shifter cable but is still in otherwise fine shape.

From what I understand those gm and flx newlooks are all going to be given extensive reworkings, they are certainly not going to be forgotten about. They do top notch work.

During the Holiday Special Bus Service last December 2008, Museum Bus
#2151 was temporily housed at the Quill Depot in Manhattan to connect to the Crosstown Manhattan MABSTOA routes. However, I beleive that former NYCTA GMC bus #2151 is currently stored at the
Jackie Gleason Depot in Brooklyn.

Yes, they are from a bunch of years. I hope he's enjoying retirement. I had fun riding his bus then, and he seemed to be having a lot of fun driving the vintage bus.

Great shots, thanks. Definitely brings back memories. Glad to see the old NYCDOT Franchises were recognized (always hoped they kept of few of those around, especially the NYBS fishbowl), but I didn't notice one from Command.

Anyway, thanks for sharing.

No idea---but when I saw it in 2007, it left on its own power. Things can change though; 2969 was towed to 2008 Busfest, but ran on its own around to various locations last December.
