Maybe the old pic of 5755 was wrecked and the new pic replaced it. That is strange . Great pics !

Wow, I wish I had 36 weekday hours to spend in DC as I would like. Great shots as always, and a great representation, although PG County is missing ;).

I too am curious about 5755...wonder what happened to the old one? Anyway, I guess the new scheme won't just be for hybrids after all...although 5755 is supposed to be a hybrid...hmm...

Holy shit! Everybody in DC is getting a new paint scheme! Ride-On's new look is striking.

I think the the 5319 is the old 5755. Ride-on maybe renumbered the Gillig hybrids into that number scheme, they have done this before.

5319 looks new as I can see the "09" before the fleet number. My guess is that the 2006-07 hybrids are going to take the 5301-5315 range and (Hybrid) 5755 will end up in there.

(Diesel) 5755 is a totally new bus, the telltale sign of which being the rear exhaust; (Hybrid) 5755 was one of the last orders before Gillig made the change.

I miswrote this. I meant to say that (Hybrid) 5755 was renumbered somewhere within the 5301-5315 range.

Ride On has done it before with some 35-foot CNG Orion Vs that were originall in the 5500 Series, they were renumbered to 5900s, placing them with 5900 Series 35-foot CNG Orion VIIs. Also two CNG Orion VIs were renumbered from 5570-5571 to 5801-5802, placing them with 40-Foot CNG Orion Vs and New Flyer C40LF CNGs.

So if this is a renumbering scheme, it looks likes

CNG 35-Footers = 5900 Series
(5900-5957, 5997-5999)

CNG 40-Footers = 5800 Series
(5801-5802, 5803-5821, 5822-5835)

Diesel 30-Footers = 5000 Series
(5001-5006)

Diesel 35-Footers = High 5300-, 5400-, 5500-, 5600- and 5700-Series
(5360-5397, 5400-5423, 5550-5566, 5572-5579, 5580-5623, 5705-5725, 5726-5746)

Hybrids = Low 5300-Series
(5315 and up, and renumbering the current hybrids to 5301-5314)

Yeah, maybe to the public. But it makes sense for the agency for internal use. I don't think they give a shit about what the public thinks.

Wait, the new hybrids start at 5315? I guess they would renumber the "old" hybrids into the 5301-5314 category. I didn't realize that Ride-On had 15 hybrids, though.

And if i'm not mistake, Trevor, these new hybrids are not only going to replace the remaining Orion Is and my beloved 5546, but they should also take out some of the '94-'96 Gillig Phantoms (oh thank heaven!). I'm thinking that the "5300s" will now be for hybrid buses.

In you list, I think you meant that diesel 40 footers would be in the 5700 series, rather than 35 footers. That's likely why the first two batches of hybrids had the 575x numbers.

Who would be confused? I imagine this info would be passed on to those who need to know. Outside of Ride On the typical rider isn't going to know about their numbering. The only people I see possibly being confused is folks like us and we'd adapt.
