You know now thinking back on that, I'm glad SI has got their act straitened out. The less of the need to swap buses around the better. And good for SI, now that they have their own buses now, there should be no need to swap them for other buses. But they seriously need [the DOT] to fix those roads or reroute the buses. |

Flatbush has to get 60 with the new batteries because IIRC they don't do well on high mileage routes. Unless they up and decide 126 randomly needs hybrids, MJQ will be getting some of those buses. |

Thankfully the order was small, I don't see how there was a need to put MCI's on every single express run. Especially some of the lower used lines where there's barely half capacity left. |

Um, if anything, Flatbush is trading the older NG's to Manhattan in exchange for the newer lithium ion powered hybrids. I don't think they are getting more buses. And if anything it would be to displace the 8400's [not totally sure since they are pretty old and might not last too long] or the 5000-5200, 9600's. |

I'm starting realize the DOT isn't the brightest bunch of people. They closed off Kappock during the height of rush hour yesterday afternoon to finally repave the street. Now I'm happy they did it because the street was tearing KB buses up but it caused a re-route that skipped all the stops between Johnson/Irwin and Riverdale/239. Add the re-route because of the water main break at 231(there was a mob of people at 231 & kingsbridge) and it took 70 mins to get from bedford Park to riverdale. |

Well ok then, write a letter to the MTA is what I'd say. dunno how much good that's gonna do though.Like I've said, my favorite bus was 5105, but they sent that to Ulmer [ok granted it's the same borough, but I don't ride those lines often and still haven't seen this bus yet]. I was disappointed, but it wasn't the end of the world. The bus was going to be moved eventually. Given the rate at which the MTA is swapping buses around, it is a matter of time till those 8600 are going to be moved. Be happy the buses served Manhattan as long as they have. I mean they could be 'battered' like the ENY 8600s to some extent. |

Yes, but they aren't that much older [2-3 yrs] than the 8000-8300's. Chances are most will retire where they currently are. Not to mention Flatbush has been keeping them running well. The 8000-8300's out there are just ready to die. |

In my case, I rode on the 86xx RTS' to death in my later teen years. In the last four years, I've already got acustomed to riding an 86xx RTS on the M9 and M21 routes.Don't get me started on the '94 TMC's at ENY. |

Now, had this been sooner, I'm sure the 8400's too would've been sent out with the 8000-8300's, but i guess the MTA figures they would have given MTA Bus too many of the older buses and most 8000-8300's were running on borrowed time [8130 as in my vid].The 8400's, however, have been maintained fairly well at Flatbush and given their age, they probably wouldn't last at best maybe 6mo-1 year at MTA Bus. |

Like 8044, 8393 (RIP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> FLA 8400s. Not all 1990 RTS are ready to die, some of them have a lot of life in them. Some of those Queens Village 1990 TMCs still have life in them. |
