Based on information which I believe to be reliable (but have not independently verified), below is a cheat sheet for the renumbering that should allow you to determine the old number for any renumbered Long Island Bus.

New # Old #

1400 135
1401-04 137-140
1405-83 142-220
1484-1507 222-245
1508-40 270-302
1541-1699 304-462
1800 2132
1801 2133
1802 601
1803 607
1804 617
1805 653
1806 100
1807 102
1808 104
1809 105
1810 112
1811 116
1812 117
1813 122
1814-16 124-26
1817 128
1818 129
1819 131
1820 133
1821 134

They renumbered the diesels? I thought they had a few more than 4 of them.

[I thought they had a few more than 4 of them.]

As of March 2008, they had at least two others, as evidenced by the photos below that I took at that time. I don't know why they are not on the renumbering list, but can only guess that they are no longer around.

Thanks...now I see the shortage that LIB had been having---only 317 revenue buses and a peak requirement of 279 (as of 2007, probably about 285 now) before the NGs started coming in.

I remember LIB #221 burning on Hempstead Tpke a few years back, but what happened to LIB #303?

That is correct, if my information is accurate.

Once this is all done, will LIB's #s fit in with NYCT & MTAB? It looks that way to me, as I know of no low 18XX in the NYCT/MTABs' fleets.

no I am confused about buses 1820-1821 they should be in the 1400 series. I guess all 1800s will be replaced. 286 is 1524 by the way.

Apparently, the MTA has something else in mind for numbers 1200-1399.
