Hey thanks for the summary on the C40LFRs! Finally I understand the numbering breakdown and which buses have the ISL-G (and by extension, that air compressor on the top of the rear roof). I assume 5501 is still being "held captive" by Valley Metro and that there is no bus numbered 5500 for some reason.

Also do you know if the 1998 DE40LF are in line for retirement anytime soon? I ask since some of the 5400s appear to be getting ready for retirement (the ones that are over 600,000 miles at least). I wish I had a chance to ride on a 1995, 1997 or 1998 D40LF last time I was in the OC considering that they will be gone soon (although I would guess the 1999 D60LF are quite similar in terms of specifications with the exception that they are 20 feet longer).

Thanks for that information. So I would assume that you guys are NOW offically a LOW FLOOR fleet.

the 1998 DE40LFs are not inline for retirement yet. Theyre elibible for retirement around 2010/2011. The operators here refer to the 5200/5300/5400s as "Cadillacs" because theyre pretty quick on takeoff. Even when they had the DD50s they were had the get-up.

the '99 artics have alot of miles on them as well...approaching the 500K mark. Were not sure what will replace them.

yes the large bus fleet is 100% low floor. sadly i kinda miss some of the high floors we had in the past, particularly the GMC RTS.

I would assume you all would almost be forced to replace the 1999 artics with either 40 footers or NABI 60BRTs (unless there is a GE60LF).

I was thinking: are there any more C40LFRs that are supposed to be coming in past 5678 or 7592 (I assume that 5150 will be the highest numbered suburban)?

no more after these. This comes up to a total of 299 units.
