I was going to do this last night however I did not feel like looking for my camera so I am doing this right now.

I saw a poster yesterday on the M14D saying about the museum buses. This year it's going to be operating on 9 ROUTES! Yes you read that right, 9 ROUTES! Here are the following routes.
M8, M14, M20, M23, M34, M42, M57, M79, and Q32!
I know a few routes will surprise ya and yes you are reading this correctly! Thanks for reading! :)

They shouldn't put these buses on the M-14 and Q-32,especially during rush hour...what were they thinking? But again the Q 32 is decent route to put them on since you don't have to deal with stop & go traffic.

The proliferation of routes is going to make it harde to find one without some inside knowledge. I doubt nine historic buses will be running at once.

So here's the museum buses below:
7144
9098
236
8466
2969
6259
3758
1201
5227
8928
3100
100
5117
4727
1059
2151
7340
3006
1502
275
4904
3865
10001
623
621

We know last year we saw 100, 2151, 4727, 5117, 7340.
I know 1201, 236, 5227, 3006, 1502, 275, 4904, 3865, 10001, 8466, 8928, 621, 623 run.

What is the status of 7144, 9098, 2969, 6259, 3758, 3100, 1059?

Which of the running buses and possibly the rest of the museum fleet would be running?

1. Forgetting a letter in a word is a bit more forgiving than missing a digit in a number.

2. I doubt they'd run 10001 on the Q32. Maybe 5227, but not 10001. Bus 10001 will be on the M79. :)

Will they also be putting them on the street on display parked like they did a year or two ago when they had the the Centennial for the DOB - I remember they had them at Union Square and in front of GCT with MTA DOB personnel offering historical perspectives on the buses.

I'm really looking forward to seeing them on the Q32 and the M79, it will be nice to take them across the park to the River Basin.

If they were cared for properly they run. Westcher County RTS's were 8V71 also, but depending on the contract carrier that had them they were great or sucked. Buses that Club, Mt Kisco or Plesantville were rockets. Ones from Liberty and Bronxville were dogs an old timer told me when I worked for the Bee-line.

I remeber there was this yard next to the command bus depot(Now spring creek) that had an bunch of old RTS's from GBL and command, and some other buses with an varicity paint scheme. Haven't been over there since it got taken over by the MTA so i don't know if there still there..

Those Green Lines RTS-03s were moved to Arverne, then were scrapped around the time of the takeover. 1012 was still hanging around at JFK Depot before the takeover, but I don't know what's happened to it since.

Yeah - All of those slopeback RTS-03 in the NYC area had the DD 8V71 engine. Those at GBL looked and sounded like crap very quickly. Interesting enough, Triboro used theirs pretty much only in express service for several years.

As I know from last year, unless you are posting from the inside of the bus in service, it's impossible to know when and where the buses will be ahead of time.

Holy crap! But as someone else noted, this just makes it that much harder to find a bus in service. I'd probably rather it be one route only, but again, since this is to benefit regular passengers, that wouldn't make much sense.

Thanks for the poster.

I find it hilarious that they're putting them on routes that they're threatening to cut.

I never saw them as slopebacks they had regular AC by the time I noticed them. I would routinely let them go by on Flatbush ave on my home and wait for something else to show up

You can always lurk in areas where more than one bus route intersects. (West 34th Street and 7th Ave, Lincoln Center area, etc) but the spread of routes and length of some (M20 and Q32) make it more difficult to catch.
