Thats how it was like on the old private lines and SEPTA's high floors. However, on the 1994-95 Bee Line Orions, the cord is in a lower position. |

This made it difficult for short people and those in the aisle seat to reach over the person next to them and pull the cord. The 1992 TMCs are the only ones in our fleet with the pullcord way up there. |

Can anyone explain to me the advantages of a pull cord vs. the stop tape and why the MTA is trying to convert to them all of a sudden? The opposite site with Valley Metro here in Phoenix, converting to push buttons and stop tape. |

Ok as long as it has a lockout mechanism to prevent it being rung again before the bus stops and the door opens. How many of us can remember on the Fishbowls and Flxs when some uh, "youths" would just pull the cord over and over, as fast as their arms could move? (I suppose that may have happened on the occasional Old Look, but I don't remember) |

Yes, but the pull cords, all they do is basically function just like the touch tape, send a "digital signal" with a "digital bell", not an actual bell like the Fishbowls. |
