orion 7 update |
|
|
Posted by mci guy on Wed Oct 29 15:40:13 2008 it seems like theres nothing to update. highest number seen in service 3834. 3835 reported sent for battery change. supposedly 3836- 3844 are at castleton. if they are ive not seen them in service. what a slow delivery. typical of orion. |

Yep, everything seems to have been the same for awhile. The Orion 7s are never consistently easily to be found though. On Sunday night, there were plenty of O7s but Monday and Tuesday, I only saw two or three, while today I spotted about 13 O7s. |

What is the number of the crashed bus? Also, there has been speculation that Atlantic Express will pull the AE7 when/if the MTA takes over the X23 & X24. Is the MTA planning for it? |

That is correct, but the rumor is that AE will "dispose" of the coach business when the MTA contract are up. The AE7 loads are very ho-hum...not sure how they are doing it. |

Their fare is higher than the MTA fare, and I believe you need to buy your ticket book in advance. They no longer have the expense of maintaining the parking facilties, as that lot belongs to the city. |

They have 8 AM runs and 15 PM runs carrying about ~500 people total (250 each way). I am inclined to say that the numbers don't work unless they are lowballing their counts. |

Yes cause the MTA wants to use the pleasant plains maybe as the site for their new x21 park and ride that uses all of Arthur Kill Rd. but yes MTA did notify MTA that it will cease express bus operations in late 2009. |

Wait..i think i know. Ulmer Park had the 8500's for a short time, then they got moved to FLA. I'm thinking this:most 9300's express coaches-moved to LGA converted to hard seats 8500's-off to FLA |

If you drive past the depot going from Clove towards Jewitt, and the front door is open look to the far right right. Thats where all new deliveries are. Sometime the employee entrance door on Jewitt is open you can see them their too. They don't put them in the yard because q.c. supervisor has to go overthem, and they also don't want an incident in the yard where the wrong bus may be assigned |

Bus is wrecked but was in the process of being repaired, I can tell by the grayish color of alot of body parts and the new doors/ and side windows. Bus is going back to Zerega once its done, there is something going on tommorow between the contractor and OSHA. I believe their is a lawsuit between crane operator and somebody? I have an idea: run nothing but Orion VIIs on the S89. :) Trevor, did the O7 S89 you saw have an inspection sticker? I mean, we have all of these random bus failures of a new bus (heh) and um, maybe someone should look into it (heh). You know, for the passenger's safety and all (hehe). It would prevent a potential lawsuit (hehehe) if a third party made sure that they were safe (hehe). Maybe the Feds might be interested (heh), after that California incident we should be extra vigilant you know (heh) about bus safety. |
