This morning an Orion VII Deadheading to the ferry Bus # 3802 (I believe) as the bus was approaching the sharp right turn before Broadway on richmond terrace, the bus side swiped and hit the utility pole on the bend. As of 09:40 Engines 157/80/156 from FDNY were on scene along with management and an ambulance. As of 11:40 bus is at Castleton Depot in the Maintance area in rear of depot. You can see bus if you are driving behind Castleon Depot through the gates.

i dont see where the fact it was a hybrid plays a part. it seems to be due to driver error and you can bet NYCT will comedown hard on driver.

This is an extremely sharp curve people! It was a accident that just happened to be a Hybrid O7. The accidents with O5s on the stretch are unmentioned here but I'm sure there have been a few. And you can bet that there are accidents with cars, especially when other cars are sitting at the light on Broadway.

What SIers need to do is perhaps have a light installed at the intersection...or speed humps approaching it. Call 3-1-1...and have others do it as well.

However...if it's a high accident intersection, it isn't working.

Yep. the bus will eventually get fixed, but as for the bus operator, ________________ ( fill in the blank ).

it seems to be due to driver error

And with respect to that, speed humps probably are needed, so that vehicles aren't able to take a high speed into the curve.

However, the NYCDOT hasn't done enough to do traffic calming. If it really has, then accidents here would be isolated incidents.

What are you talking about? A bus hit a pole on a sharp curve. Someone responded saying it was a sharp curve and was a problem. I responded that it is built-in traffic calming for the road, so it's a good feature. I don't understand what angle you are taking.

A squad car with a radar gun with fix that. You do know that speeding is a problem on Richmond Terrace.
