Posted by lbt 9415 on Sun Aug 17 02:13:50 2008 I met up with a few other busfans at Fullerton Park-Ride lot. Our bus, originating from L.A. Union Station, arrived at about a few minutes before 8am...other busfans were already on board originated from L.A. We also made a stop to pick up more people at Oceanside. After that, our first stop would be at the UCSD Transportation Facility/Bus Yard. There we got a little nice tour of their bus operations and a treat of snacks. This particular stop wasnt intresting to me, so no photos were taken here by me.Our bus for the day ...  Our 2nd stop was at one of the San Diego Transit facilities. We got a warm welcome ....and a special treat as well. The pics will speak for themselves San Diego Transit # 638 - 1967 GMC TDH4519  San Diego Transit # 301 - 2008 NewFlyer C40LF. A very new arrival. powered with a Cummins ISL-G engine and ZF transmission.     VERY NICE LOOKING Recaro seat   San Diego Transit # 1101 - 1993 NewFlyer D60. This was one of the units with its original DD6v92 engine.   San Doego Transit 1241 - 1991 Gillig Phantom 40102/TB/6V92TA  San Diego Transit 1526 - 1997 NewFlyer C40LF     San Diego Transit 408 - 2005 NewFlyer C40LF  |

It was great seeing these two buses. Theres still a few D60s and Phantoms in contigency but not many. The 6v92TA powered artics are history while some of the DD50 repowered D60s are hanging on. |
