Tonight I rode Valley Metro 1998 NABI 40-LFW #6073 on Route 67- 67th Avenue from Arrowhead Towne Center to Cactus Road.

Yesterday I saw Valley Metro 1998 NABI 40-LFW #6071 on Route 67- 67th Avenue at Arrowhead Towne Center.

Now Route 67- 67th Avenue is now using four 1996 New Flyer D40LF 3700 series, one NABI 40-LFW 6000 series and one 2007 New Flyer D40LF 6500 series on weekdays (Monday-Friday).

At least they are still using the 3700 series buses. I am guessing that the highest numbered NABI at Phoenix West is probably 6080. These were the former RPTA leased buses back in 2005-2006. Still it is quite odd to see NABIs on the 67 even though they have been there for 6 months. Still not as odd as seeing C40LFRs during the Super Bowl in Glendale!

Actually, it appears that 6079 is at Phoenix South. I took this photo last Sunday. The cutoff may be around 6078 or so.:

Last Month that RPTA operate Route 72 and 81

This month that the Veolia RPTA will operate Route 72- Scottsdale and Route 81- Hayden after that Veolia Tempe will take over two routes.

The RPTA will operate Route 45- Broadway and maybe Route 108- Elliot from Tempe.

Veolia Phoenix will take over Route 77- Baseline from Veolia Tempe it will be operated exclusively from the South Facility because Mesa doesn't have Sunday bus service it only go to Dobson Road and Baseline in Mesa.

Is the Tempe division going to get more 2006 C40LFRs? I cannot see how they can operate the 81 and 72 with the current equipment there. I guess with 6401-6405 already in tempe it isn't a stretch to see 1/2 to 3/4 of the 64XXs over in the Tempe Division for these routes.

NOOOOO!!! These routes are two of the best in the system, not to mention that the 72 is a supergrid route and is supposed to use the newest buses! I DON'T WANT TO SEE CRAPPY 35LFWs OR 40LFWs ON THE 72 OR 81! People will really be unhappy when they see their nice new buses go away and get replaced with the worst NABIs in the fleet. I wouldn't complain as much if Tempe maintained their buses better, though. They BETTER get some C40LFRs (preferably the 2008 models) on that route again or I will not be happy to see a great bus route fall apart. Not to mention, what happens when they start running the E-Z Riders on a regular basis, rather than on the substitute basis that they currently run on those routes?

Whatever happens, I REALLY hope Tempe gets some C40LFRs. I DON'T want to see them leave Tempe!

Two days ago I saw 3709 and 3723 1996 New Flyer D40LF at Loloma Station on Route 41- Indian School operated by First Transit.

If Tempe put the worst NABIs and Hell Dorado's on Route 72 it would match well with the worst 3700's 1996 New Flyer D40LF operated by First Transit from Phoenix Public Transit West Facility.

Let hope that Tempe is getting New Flyer C40LFR on Route 72 and 81 than the old worst NABIs and Hell Dorado's.

From what I see there are 19 buses needed to run 72 and maybe 15 to run 81, so there would definitely have to be some bus transfers. But just like with 6401-6405, these would not be transferred to the City of Tempe. They would be RPTA buses operated under the same contract with Veolia, but from another facility. I would not expect to see Tempe buses as regular players or substitutes.

I don't see why RPTA would run 108. That was a "Tempe in Motion" funded route from the start.

Wow, I thought I was the only one who HATES THOSE old NABIs! 72 and 156 are my favorite routes though, and love the New Flyers they run on them, I do NOT want to see NABIs on the 72!

I am guessing something like this would happen. 6406-6426 along with 6453-6456 will go to the Tempe Division for Routes 72 and 81. This would give Tempe enough 40' buses to effectively operate both routes. 6254 and 6255 also may operate on the 72 and 81 as they are Scottsdale/RPTA owned buses. Unfortunately, I do believe that this means that the 2008 C40LFRs/DE40LFR will not operate on the 72 and 81 as those buses will be RPTA owned and operated out of Mesa.

And that would make a lot of people who transfer there very unhappy. At least they run the new artics on the 41!

Well that saves the 2008 C40LFRs for Route 156, the route that I live by, and ride almost every single day :)

As a hopefully future ASU grad student. I would LOVE to have the 2008 C40LFRs on the 72 and 81 as I'd likely use them to commute to school.
