I think the Orion VII HEVs from MTAB are being borrowed for training purposes. They will go back to their respected depots in due time. R36, you have got to learn to accept them at 1 point in time or another. What are you going to do when the entire NYCT fleet becomes all Hybrid? LGA will NEVER have an all RTS Fleet ever again for their local lines, if that's what you are thinking. 850 more HEVs are on the way. 745 for NYCT, 105 for MTAB. The only difference is their appearance. After seeing 3800 at the Roadeo a few weeks back, I, personally favor the Orion VII NG and can't wait to see them in service. Although I'm not a avid fan of the boxy design currently in service, I am learning to accept them. I do photograph them quite often.

Enjoy those 1990-1991 TMC RTSs at LGA while you still can. They are on borrowed time, IMO.

SI streets are murder on the O7. That's why the O7 NG was redesigned for MTA. They will be able to run in Staten Island when they enter service. CAS is supposed to get 3800-3839, and Yukon 3840-3879. But like many other things with MTA, this is subject to change, though it will likely remain the same.

The older ones don't belong (the whole bottoming out thing), but the new ones do. What I don't get is why MTA said they had Orion redesign the rear so the buses wouldn't have problem in the BX, BK and SI. But the last time I checked the current hybrids's haven't really ran in the Bronx and they don't have problems in BK. SI was the only problem.

SI maybe getting 400 buses but there's no way MTA is going to send the 1st 400 straight to SI. It's more realistic that the 1st 80 go there then later on another 80 and so on until the island has 400. The real question is when the new hybrids will start coming.

I beg to differ on this one. The Queens 6400's, a few Manhattan 6400's and some MTA Bus (mainly LGA) Hybrids break down often because the maintenance obviously is not that fine tuned. Other than that, I would say they are the most reliable from an overall standpoint, but if you want to get technical, the RTS is more reliable simply because they outnumber hybrids 4:1. Brooklyn Hybrids have the best reliability rate in the city, with Manhattan right on their heels.
