That seems to be the case with Valley Metro's NABI buses (which are quite similar to CAT's ones in terms of specifications, with the A/C on the roof and similar seats/flooring). I was riding on one last night and the main reason why they rattle is because of the small screwed-in covers that are on the ad racks. The screws become loose and the small covers rattle nonstop. New Flyer buses do not have this, which is why they don't rattle as much. I hope they changed this on the new NABI buses because it is extremely loud.

By the way, are CAT's 1999 NABIs LNG-powered, do they have two A/C units, or is there nothing in the back where the A/C normally is? I ask because in the case of Valley Metro, the A/C is on the roof and where the A/C normally is (there are vents there although no unit) there is a large steel LNG tank.
