Just so happens I got 9481 on the LIC-bound 61 on Jay between Fulton & Willougby around 2:00.The driver was no doubt new to the route. Instead of making the prescribed left off Classon onto Kent, he took an around-the-block detour via Rutledge, Whythe and Heyward before going normal. This was accompanied by the expected gutteral squeals and cries of "WTF?!" Makes you wonder: when a driver is new to a route, is he given a route map or a piece of paper listing the moves as with subway shuttles? The Brooklyn Bus Map doesn't make it clear that LIC-bound B61s are supposed to use Keap when switching from Kent to Whythe- even the Williamsburg close-up. Later that afternoon I rode the Q54 from Union Turnpike to Queens Boulevard. During the ride and somewhat long wait beforehand, I saw 9100s, 9500s and Hybrids- no 8800s. |
