Posted by W.B. on Thu May 28 02:13:31 2026 May 28, 1928 - The Book of Route Operational Changes The Bronx, New York Fifth Avenue Coach Company Surface Transportation Corporation of New York Effective as of this date, operation of the Concourse-138th Street and Concourse-Hub lines, which had been run since October 11, 1924 by Fifth Avenue Coach as Routes 12 and 14 respectively, is transferred to Surface Transportation System which had sought and won an injunction against FACCo for its presence in the Bronx, and had just recently been awarded an exclusive franchise by the city to operate buses in the borough. Under STS aegis, the Concourse-138th Street line will become Bx-1, and the Concourse-Hub line will be renumbered as Bx-2, both of which have retained these route numbers to this day.
