Posted by W.B. on Wed Jan 21 02:58:17 2026 January 21-22, 1961 - The Book of Route Operational Changes Brooklyn and Queens, New York New York City Transit Authority - Queens Bus Division Triboro Coach Corporation On January 21, the TA's Route B-72 - Junction Boulevard is officially sold to Triboro Coach. At midnight on January 22, the route designation is hereby changed to Q-72 and extended south to Queens Boulevard, and free transfers to and from the B-58 - Flushing-Ridgewood line are eliminated. It would be the only time a private company would take over a city bus route. It would be placed back in city operation after 2006 when Triboro Coach is taken over by the MTA and placed under MTA Bus aegis.
