This is, I believe, one manner at which to generate additional vehicular grid lock to justify expanding a congestion relief zone into downtown Brooklyn. Vehicle tolls to surely follow.

It's only a matter of time when congestion tolling spreads to other parts of New York City outside of Manhattan.

NYC wants it both ways. Development to increase that real estate tax base with high density housing, look at downtown Brooklyn along Flatbush Avenue Extension west of Fulton, plus charge for driving on streets regardless that vehicle registration is supposed to go towards roads.

Not to forget the reinstatement of a WW 2 Auto Use tax by NYC during the fiscal crisis of 1975 that is still collected. Plus a Metropolitan Commuter District Tax (MCDT) collected on each vehicle registration and operators license where and if one lives in a MTA served county.

This is where out of town'er transplants who have migrated to New York over the past thirty years with little college marketable skills complain about high rents, and he affordability of living in New T=York, yet want their $7 to $11 dollar Lattes.

Did I digress, yes but if a reader of this post actually lives in New York, they would understand.
