Yeah. As I can attest, some of the last RTS's - right up to a few months before that last ride - also plied two "tony" Manhattan routes (at least), M20 - Eighth Avenue and M42 - 42nd Street. I guess that didn't count to the Daily News "writers" . . . I actually rode on an RTS plying the M20 around February or March of 2019, before the end was nigh.

I also note that there wasn't this much "outrage" over the first Fishbowls made for Fifth Avenue Coach Lines and Surface Transit (3101-3160, 3161-3210 and A/C 1-10 later 3211-3220), in their last years of service up to their final runs in 1973, all assigned to the Kingsbridge depot where they ran various Bronx routes, some of which entered Manhattan via 181st Street. And certain of those buses, when they started out, traversed the likes of "tony" Fifth Avenue, Broadway in the Theatre District, and what in the '70's would be called "The Deuce" (a.k.a. 42nd Street).
