From the NYC Streets Plan document:CityBenches provide public seating to make New York City’s streets more comfortable for all New Yorkers, especially pedestrians and transit riders. Benches also allow seniors and people with disabilities to walk longer distances to and from public transit, by providing rest stops along the way. NYC DOT manages and maintains over 2,100 CityBenches citywide. So, longer distances between bus stops but benches will be added lest walkers tire out on the way to the bus stop? |
