So, was Grand Avenue in Maspeth/Elmhurst named thus at the same time as what is now 30th Avenue? (Since the Brooklyn portion is named Grand Street, perhaps that was the name in Queens as well, but changed to Avenue to conform to the numbering scheme with N/S streets and E/W avenues.)Were there other street name conflicts between Queens neighborhoods that were only resolved by the move to borough-wide street numbering? |
