They were installed in the past three years or so.

No, many local councilpersons were responsible for securing the funds to have them installed in their districts. Each of them had press releases and or ceremonies taking credit for they number of signs they were responsible for installing.

They were never regarded as a replacement for paper signs for all bus stop poles, but for major intersections. Headlines like Kallos responsible for 160 signs.

Many also criticized these signs as wasteful, saying most have smart phones. Advocates for the elderly thought the signs were a good idea.
